Backstage?!? No! Please don’t make me have to go to the suburbs to keep my kids’ dreams of theatrical glory alive. We went to 4 stores in VA last weekend looking for ballet shoes, only to return back to our favorite store on the corner. My kids are going to be very upset when I read this post to them tomorrow.

Hope you guys plan to cover the beating/robbery at gunpoint that took place last night at 3rd and North Carolina. Fortunately the victim is okay, but we have GOT to highlight the insane uptick in crime and ask our friends at MPD what the hell is going on.

I’m happy to shop there for Halloween, but I’ve been buying dance supplies for my kids there since 2003. And now I can tell my tween that the theater supply store is closing so a beer & wine emporium can open. Thanks for being so family-friendly, Barracks Row (not).

I’m sad that Backstage is leaving. Chat’s Liquor is already on the block. Boo to taking away one more of the few remaining interesting stores on Barracks Row.

    • Unfortunately success has driven the rents up almost 100% for the Backstage building. The owner is ready to move on. An employee is trying to raise funding to purchase, but the store will have to move to NOVA to thrive.
