Supermoon!!

Hey there, busy parents of Capitol Hill! I know your mornings are a haven of relaxation, where you sit with your coffee and ponder the curious happenings of this delightful madcap world and… oh, what’s that? Your mornings are a hectic blur of lunches, backpacks and homework, combined with tears, bad attitude and the vile woes of mismatched socks and lost jackets? Ha! My bad– I thought it was only me.

Why not add a couple of things to that delightful mix tomorrow morning? The Capitol Hill School Public School Parents’ Organization (CHPSPO) is hosting Walk To School Day! The festivities begin at 7:30 am, and kids from schools all over Ward 6 will congregate at Lincoln Park, East Capitol Street between 11th and 13th Streets SE. There will be free goodies from the folks at Clif Bar, and Wendy the Water Drop will make sure everyone stays hydrated (or else?), courtesy of DCWater.

Since you’re up pretty early already to go show the world you’re no car-driving slouch, why not make it a reeeeally early rising time and watch the Blood Moon (weather permitting)? Tomorrow’s lunar eclipse promises to give the moon a strange red hue, which prompts the name. If there are no low clouds, you may even be able to see something even rarer: a selenelion, or the sun and the moon seemingly out at the same time. (très Tatooine.)

Happy humpday!
