The weekend is nearly here, so if you are still flailing about for ways to occupy your time, here are some ideas.

Tonight the Library of Congress  presents Intelligence of the Human Machine at the Atlas. Cellist Katinka Kleijn, a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and International Contemporary Ensemble connects to an EEG headset to play a live duet with her brain waves. The concert is free, and as with most Library of Congress events, the advance tickets are already sold out, but there will be rush ticket option, available at the door. More information on the program can be found here.

Friday night the Hill Center is a screening of the documentary Women in Hollywood. The film covers the early days when women ran twenty film companies and were writers and directors as well. The film includes interviews with modern heavyweights like Shonda Rhimes and Lena Dunham, as well as Jane Fonda and Sarah Jessica Parker.  The event is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. You can register here.

The PEN/Faulkner Foundation hosts an evening highlighting the emerging writers featured in the most recent edition of the Virginia Quarterly Review at the Folger. The reading is hosted by writer Ann Beattie and begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available here.

Saturday is the Renovator’s House Tour from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  100 percent of the proceeds benefit The Capitol Hill Cluster School. Tickets can be purchased here for $20, or $25 the day of the tour. Kate told us all about it last week.

Sunday brides and grooms-to-be can check out Toasted Wedding, DC’s largest indie wedding expo happening at Eastern Market’s North Hall from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.  There will be goody bags for the first 75 guests, food tastings and live music. You can get an idea of what to expect from this video from the super-cute event they threw in Brooklyn. It’s like a real-life Pinterest page. So many adorable, crafty people.
