Pottery on the Hill, a pottery show featuring 16 of the nation’s top potters, returns to Hill Center October 31-November 2. Pottery on the Hill isn’t exactly what you might think of when thinking of a pottery show. Don’t just picture sculptures or pieces that look nice; think bright, patterned ceramic table platters, fanciful mugs, one-of-a-kind cooking pots, vases, and much more.
Pottery on the Hill is about integrating handcrafted art into every day life with functional pottery, including cups, plates, platters, steins, and more. The artists want people to drink their coffee from a hand cast mug, make lasagna in a covered dish, and serve dinner on a cleverly wrought platter. They don’t want their works to simply sit on a shelf, unused. A lot of the pieces are even dishwasher safe!
The sixteen artists, many who are new to the show this year, will travel to DC from around the country from Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
