ANC:

Meet the Candidates: Meredith Fascett, ANC 6D07

We have offered to post brief statements from all of the ANC candidates running for seats on Capitol Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods that we cover here on The Hill is Home.  These statements are not endorsements and have been posted exactly as submitted by the candidates.

unnamed-3Great neighborhoods rely on engaged and collaborative neighbors. As your Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, I want to partner with you to build on our community’s strengths and tackle its challenges. Over the past three years, you have invited me into your homes to talk about our love for the Navy Yard neighborhood and the Nationals! We also have worked hard together – creating the Van Ness Elementary School Parent Group, successfully keeping $15 million in the DCPS budget for the renovation of Van Ness, and testifying before the DC Council on the proposed CSX Virginia Avenue Tunnel project.

I would like the privilege of representing you on our Advisory Neighborhood Commission. I know the issues that affect daily life here and I have the background to advocate on your behalf, with a Master’s degree in Public Policy and experience at three government agencies, in investment banking, and in stakeholder outreach on national campaigns. As your Commissioner, I will:

  • Make your voice heard in the design and planning of new development;
  • Advocate for the reopening of Van Ness Elementary School next Fall as a high-quality, diverse, neighborhood school;
  • Help create a new Community Center that will become a place for us to come together and enjoy great programming that matches our interests;
  • Work hard to ensure that DC Government works for our community, from finding parking and traffic solutions to ensuring public safety;
  • Demand real solutions to the community’s concerns about the proposed CSX Virginia Avenue Tunnel project; and
  • Support our outstanding local businesses.

I am committed to this neighborhood. My husband and I are enthusiastic about raising our young sons in our thriving community. A vote for me is a vote for our neighborhood’s future. Can I count on your vote on November 4th? I look forward to hearing from you.
