ANC:

Meet the Candidates: Mark Kazmierczak, ANC 6C05

We have offered to post brief statements from all of the ANC candidates running for seats on Capitol Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods that we cover here on The Hill is Home.  These statements are not endorsements and have been posted exactly as submitted by the candidates.

unnamed-2I moved to the Near Northeast neighborhood in 2011, and have been an ANC Commissioner since 2013. I was involved in the Capitol Hill North Neighborhood Association, and was excited to run for ANC when the opportunity came. In the short time I’ve been here I’ve met many of my neighbors and am grateful to be part of such a friendly community.

I believe the most important activity for an ANC Commissioner is communication with residents. I put a high value on community input and am always available by phone or email. I disseminate information as much as possible, and hold special topic meetings with neighbors to ensure them opportunities to provide feedback. In my second term, I will experiment with some new communication methods as well, to continually improve my outreach and involve residents in all ANC actions.

One of the reasons I love this neighborhood is the variety of businesses nearby, and I am excited for some of the changes that are coming. Since I’ve been a commissioner, I’ve worked with business owners and developers to help bring amenities that residents want and to minimize the negative impacts of rapid growth. I look forward to continuing to build relationships and serve the community the best that I can.
