ANC:

Meet the Candidates: Josh Hart, ANC 6D07

We have offered to post brief statements from all of the ANC candidates running for seats on Capitol Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods that we cover here on The Hill is Home.  These statements are not endorsements and have been posted exactly as submitted by the candidates.

unnamed-2Josh Hart is pleased to announce his candidacy for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner of Single-Member District 6D07.  Josh, a DC area native, has long worked in public policy positions both within and outside government, utilizing analytical skills to examine and solve problems.  As one of the original winners of the Capitol Quarter workforce housing lottery in 2006, Josh is committed to the Hope VI mixed-income master plan for the community, and staunchly opposes efforts by the DC Housing Authority and developers to weaken the zoning that created our new neighborhood.

After completing a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College, Josh worked in policy analysis in New Jersey and Washington.   Josh later returned to school to complete a Masters in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, honing his quantitative and fiscal skills.

Josh returned to Washington, working at the Federal Reserve in consumer–related payment policy, ensuring the efficiency of payments and responding to complex correspondence from American citizens on banking matters.  He feels this experience leaves him well positioned to provide top-notch constituent services for the citizens of ANC 6D07.

Prior to moving to the neighborhood, Josh was elected twice to serve on ANC 3C in Cleveland Park, responding to the needs of residents and businesses along the neighborhood’s Connecticut Avenue corridor.   His former district included apartments, condos and rowhouses situated very close to businesses much like his current district. He resigned when he moved to the Navy Yard neighborhood to purchase a home in the Capitol Quarter development.

Josh is running because he feels he has the right experience and skills to serve on the ANC to ensure development is focused on community – and not forced upon them by large corporations with no real ties like CSX.   Moreover, So many amazing things are happening in ANC 6D07 – a new community center, elementary school, businesses and homes. Josh will hold the DC Government accountable for meeting its construction time frames for these essential new public buildings.

Josh welcomes the opportunity to serve his neighborhood.
