Maybe you have witnessed the tremendous amount of change happening on Capitol Hill, and especially the H Street Corridor, in the past decade or so. It gets a little more surreal when you think of big anniversaries and milestones.
It took me a couple of minutes to fathom what it means that the happy little market on H Street has been happening every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon starting in April and running until December. It’s been ten years now!
The first time I went to the market, it was still located in a parking lot by the EBT training center, between 5th and 6th, NE. Now, the market blocks the 800 block of 13th Street NE, overlooking H Street. FreshFarm Markets, which include the H Street location, serves about 380,000 shoppers annually and supports 150 local growers and producers. That’s more than 10,000 acres of sustainably farmed land!
If you’ve never spent a Saturday morning at the market, you’re missing out. And, here’s proof. I put together a short video, to give you a little taste. Enjoy!
