Our merry band of clever people here at THIH is always grumbling about the lack of retail options on Capitol Hill. So it was not without a small amount of surprise that this writer realized there is a lovely new boutique in the neighborhood which had completely escaped our notice. I would blame this mishap on any number of things. But! I have to say, I am looking forward to helping Pinktini –located at 705 North Carolina Avenue SE, across from Eastern Market– celebrate six months in the neighborhood!
Pinktini’s owner Danna Oweida is holding a special wine-and-shop event from 5-8 pm at the boutique, helped out by Alison Marriott of Bon Vivant wine consulting. (Which is perfect because wine goes with everything this season AND every season). If you would like to RSVP to this event, you can click here to go to the Eventbrite site.
For many years, 705 North Carolina Avenue was home to an eclectic store called The Village. The Village was started by artist and former DCPS teacher Clare Southerlin. The store became an art gallery exclusively in 2010, featuring work by local artist Alan Braley, among others. The store and gallery finally closed in the spring of 2011 and the building remained quiet until the fall of 2013.
A belated welcome to Pinktini, and may you celebrate many years in our neighborhood!
What: 6-month anniversary and wine party at Pinktini
Where: Pinktini Fashion Boutique, 705 North Carolina Avenue SE
