Tonight at the Rock and Roll Hotel is the Underground Comedy Stand Up Showcase which features six of DC’s up and coming comedians. The evening is hosted by Sean Joyce of Underground Comedy DC. The show begins at 7:30 and doors open at 7pm. You must be 21. Tickets are $10 and they are available here.

Friday the Corner Store hosts Rachel Sage and the Sequin. Page is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who has performed with Sarah McLachlan, Judy Collins, Colin Hay, Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, The Animals and Ani DiFranco. The concert begins at 7pm and tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Saturday from 1pm to 5pm is the annual Taste of 8th event on Barracks Row. Most the street’s restaurants will be offering bite-size treats and drinks. Word is there will be lollipop lamb chops and creme filled donuts. Each ticket is $5 and $20 will get you 5. Tickets and a complete list of participating restaurants are available here.

The Table Church, a new church that meets in the H Steet neighborhood, is hosting a block party on 11th St between H St. and I St. in NE  from 1:00-4:00.  There will be music, a photo-booth, live bingo, activities for kids, a BBQ competition, a Bake-Off, a Dance-Off, a pop-up book store and much more! There will be competitions in baking and cooking with over $500 in prizes. Sign-up for either competition on their website. The party is free and open to all.

J.O. Wilson Elementary is hosting a flea market and a chili cookoff from 10am -4pm. There will be a yard sale, food, games, moon bounce, pie eating contests, chili contest, live music, and more. You can check out their website for more information.

American-sounding Irish band I Draw Slow is playing at the Atlas Saturday night. They have a bluegrass-meets Celtic vibe. And their latest video features Carcetti/Littlefinger. Tickets are $20- $33.50 and are available here.

More Americana music Sunday afternoon at the Hill Center with Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass. Should the weather cooperate the band will perform a free concert on the lawn from 4pm to 6pm. RSVP to secure a spot.

The Literary Hill Bookfest takes place Sunday from 11am to 3pm in the North Hall of Eastern Market.  Capitol Hill authors will be on hand to chat about their work. Our very own Robert Pohl will kick off the day with a reading at 11:30.
