Great Noise Ensemble performs at the Atlas Friday night

We kick off Summer 2014 this weekend and I hope your plans are better than mine which will be spent watching 11 year olds play countless baseball games, though all for a good cause.

How are you going to ring in summer? Here are some ideas:

Tonight catch one of Taffety Punk’s literary-focused plays in their Rulebreaker Rep series. Both Charm and Bloody Poetry must close this weekend so now is your chance.

Friday night Great Noise Ensemble presents their final concert of the season at the Atlas. Called “Dances,” the concert focuses on rhythmic pieces inspired by science, math, the elements and dance with a cliffhanger ending. Tickets and more information can be found here.

Saturday get the low down on how to take your macrame hobby to the next level at a Fundraising Strategies for Artists workshop at The Fridge.  Led by photographer E. Brady Robinson, students will learn fundraising strategies to support new projects including setting goals, identifying donors, utilizing social media and the pros/cons to crowd-sourced fundraising. The workshop runs from 3pm to 5pm and costs $40 ($25 for students.) More information can be found here.

Sunday catch the final performance of Fiasco Theater’s Two Gentlemen of Verona because Shakespeare’s comedies are perfect for a long weekend so why not? Performances are at 2pm and 7pm. Get your tickets here.

The dress rehearsal for Monday’s Memorial Day Concert will take place on Sunday evening at 8pm. We’ve written about this great neighborhood perk before but we  have had new readers join us since then so it is always good to remind folks! A listing of the 2014 performers can be found here. Lord I only know who the old people are. And the tween opera singer Jackie Evancho, but only because I went to the 9th grade dance with her dad in 1985.

Have a great weekend!
