Sō Percussion returns to the Atlas Saturday night.

Sō Percussion returns to the Atlas Saturday night.

I thought today was Friday all day.  I was really sad when I realized it was not yet the weekend. Of course if it had been Friday this To Do list would be really really late. How would you have faced your weekend without me telling what to do?

When you’re not watching the Wizards beat the Bulls this weekend, be sure to swing-by some of these events…

Tonight Fiasco Theater presents Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona at the Folger. This is a love story with some identity issues, and a dog who plays a key comedic role. Fiasco is a New York based troupe down for a visit. The show runs through May 25th and tickets are available here.

Friday night singer Martha Redbone visits the Atlas. She describes her sound as “Hoodalachia” which evokes her upbringing in both Appalachia and Brooklyn, and her sound is just that. Her latest work was inspired by the poetry of William Blake. The show is at 8 p.m. and tickets can be found here.

At the Hill Center, author Rebecca Mead talks about her book, My Life in Middlemarch with the New Yorker’s Ann Talbot and Hanna Rosin from The Atlantic.  The talk begins at 7 p.m. and is free. Register here.

Documentary Fridays continues at the Hill Center with a movie about playing Bach on the ukulele. It’s called Bach and friends. The screening is free and begins at 7 p.m. Register here.

DO YOU WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN?! If you have no idea what the heck that was, then skip this entry. Though I really doubt there’s anyone with an internet connection who hasn’t been subjected to a rendition of Adele Dazeem singling the hit song “Let it Go”‘ from Frozen. Now, everyone can get in on the act at a SING ALONG screening. The hit Disney flick screens on Friday night at the Union Market Drive-in. Word is the car tickets are sold out but, but by all means you and your Norwegian princesses can walk or bike over there. If you come dressed up as a Frozen character, you have a chance to win a Trickling Springs giftcard.

Editor’s note: That last entry could have had a You Tube link to a video of that damn song for every letter. I was tempted.

Saturday and Sunday is the Annual Garden and Plant Sale at the Arboretum. Saturday from 10 to 1 is Members Only and then the public is welcome from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday the sale runs from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a performance by the Washington revels. More information can be found here

Ludlow Taylor Elementary’s Spring Jubilee is Saturday from 2-5 p.m. The school is located at 659 G Street, NE. festivities include crafts, moon bounces, dunk tank, yoga, yard sale and more. Tickets are $5 a person, kids 12 and under are free.

Saturday is also the Kingman Island Bluegrass Festival. Last week we posted a guide to this outdoor festival. If you have never been, I recommend it. It is a super-fun day with food, beer, music and lots of chill people. I love Kingman Island because how many parks can one access via the RFK parking lot?  The festival runs from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. All the festival info can be found here

Sō Percussion returns to the Atlas Saturday night with a new concert which focuses on the idea of home.  They are a highly imaginative, experimental (last year they played a cactus) and fun. Tickets are available here.
