Easter Egg Hunts on the Hill

This weekend there will undoubtedly be some children hyped up on Easter candy.  Peeps, rolled in M&Ms and set atop Cadbury Crème Eggs may be someone’s idea of Easter brunch.  How do we work off all that sugary energy?  Going to hunt for more sugar hidden in tiny little plastic orbs, of course.

If you didn’t secure tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, a few Easter egg hunts have been organized for the younger Hill population.  You don’t even have to leave the neighborhood to get your fill of plastic eggs filled with candy.

The Easter Eggstravaganza organized by the National Community Church is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park.  Two egg hunts are planned (historically separated by age so the littlest kids can get a few eggs), along with face painting, games, a bicycle raffle, cotton candy, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.   This is a very popular event so I’d recommend getting there on time.

Capitol Hill United Methodist Church will have an egg hunt on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., right before their Easter morning worship.  The Church is located at 421 Seward Square SE, just off Pennsylvania Avenue.

Of course, there’s nothing to say you couldn’t dye a few real eggs at home and leave them out for the Easter Bunny to hide.  Just try to remember where they are hidden – an Easter Egg that remains hidden for days becomes a very vivid reminder of why many people choose to buy the plastic ones.
