vatunnelTomorrow morning at 9:30 the DC Council will hold a hearing regarding CSX’s proposed expansion of the Virginia Avenue Tunnel. PR20-0601, which was introduced by Councilmembers Tommy Wells and David Catania, notes that “Many issues remain of concern to residents, including noise, vibrations, air quality, physical location of construction, and the safety and security risks posed by both the construction project itself and the risks associated with trains carrying hazardous material; and The Environmental Protection Agency has submitted a comment stating that it ‘has identified some deficiencies and areas of concern, including environmental justice, children’s environmental health, cumulative impacts, and community impacts, especially vibration, parks, visual, and utility disruptions.'”

If you are interested in testifying but missed Monday’s deadline, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee of the Whole, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 410 of the John A.
