Oneohtrix Point Never performs at the Atlas Sunday night.

It’s a long weekend for many of us so how will you spend it?

Tonight DC’s “guitar god” Anthony Pirog performs with his trio at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.  Known for his experimental sound Pirog still manages to not alienate his audiences. The folks from CapitalBop will be on hand at 7pm for a free pre-show discussion. Tickets and more information can be found here.

Friday the Gypsy music brass band Fanfare Ciocarlia takes the stage at the Atlas. On their Facebook page they warn their audiences to bring a towel because their shows are that high-energy and intense. The NY Times just called their performance last week “brutally exhilarating”  so you may want to take a disco nap and then come check them out. Shows is at 8pm and tickets are still available.

Saturday the Cole Stevens Salon (1210 Pennsylvania Avenue SE) is holding an open house from 10am-4pm to celebrate their first two years in business. Stop in for complimentary treats and a chance to chat with the stylists. It’s a new year so maybe you need a new look?

Saturday evening Red Rocks Pizza’s roofdeck becomes a nightclub called The Lodge. DJ Talib Kweli will perform. The evening kicks off at 9pm and will go until 3am. There is no cover.

Sunday night Oneohtrix Point Never, the stage name for musician Daniel Lopatin, take the stage at the Atlas with his unique electronic sound. Lopatin/ONE recently scored the Sofia Coppola film The Bling Ring and his latest release R Plus Seven, was named one of Pitchfork’s top 50 albums of the year. The show is at 8pm and tickets are $18.

Jen DeMayo is Director of Community for the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
