You may have noticed that your city-issued visitor parking pass has an expiration date of September 30th. No, you did not miss the new one in your mail. After some back and forth on expanding the program to be city-wide, DDOT has extended the expiration date of our current passes to December 31, 2013. So you are safe to keep using it.
Whether or not the City Council will implement the visitor parking pass system city-side is still to be determined. There is opposition in many neighborhoods where residents fear abuse and an increase of cars in areas with limited parking.
The city is expected to issue new passes before December 31 to households who are already part of the system, but you will likely need to request a pass online instead of having it automatically mailed to you.
