Help Spruce Up a School Ahead of the New School Year

BDay LogoIts nearly impossible to believe August is already here and that back to school time is around the corner.

But before you spend the rest of the month soaking up as much summer sun as possible, you might want to consider blocking off some time on Saturday August 24th to volunteer at a DC Public School.

August 24th is DCPS’ annual Beautification Day, a city-wide volunteer effort to freshen up schools ahead of the first day of the school year.

The event will take place from 9am-1pm. Volunteers are needed for a variety of projects, including gardening, organizing libraries, painting, planting flowers and more. You can sign up on your own or get a group together. You’re welcome to indicate a preference for a particular school on your registration, but volunteers are  encouraged to be flexible!

The event will take place rain or shine, and snacks and water will be provided for all volunteers.
