Many have lamented the fact that Park Tavern has taken a while to open. The ice skating rink, as you may recall, opened back in November. Chef Robert Wood was on hand at the inauguration, offering food samples and discussing the menu with Tommy Wells.
And then? Nothing. Months upon months of waiting for permits to go through delayed the opening of the restaurant, and so legions of cold parents could only look longingly look inside through the big western-facing windows and dream of the eight beers on tap that the restaurant will offer, including local favorites like DC Brau. Alas, there will be no hot cocoa on the menu when Park Tavern opens around the 20th of February, which promises to be a heavily-seasonal one, with offerings from local farms. “There will be no tomatoes in February here,” boasted Chef Wood, who was responsible for opening the kitchen at the Chesapeake Room. He said he is working with The Fresh Link to get the freshest local produce at Park Tavern.
