Get a "Taste of the Market"

One of the more popular charitable events held each year is the Taste of the Nation DC evening at the National Building Museum. The party brings together chefs and mixologists from tens of DC establishments for a night of eating and drinking that benefits Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, which aims to end childhood hunger in America.

But why wait for the main event? A “warm-up” Taste event helps you get ready with some (stomach) stretching, and this year you can take your warm-up laps around Union Market in Northeast DC. On Sunday, February 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. you can see several chefs create dishes using ingredients found in the Market. Participants expected at the event include masters from Graffiato, The Source, Bibiana, and Cashion’s Eat Place.

Tickets for the event are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Entry gets you into the party as well as a raw bar from Rappahannock River Oysters, sweets from Curbside Cupcakes, a selection of pours from Cordial Wines, caffeine from Peregrine Espresso and sips from mixologist Gina Chersevani of Buffalo & Bergen. You also will have a chance to win a gift basket from Salt & Sundry, knife sharpening services, and tickets to Taste of the Nation DC later this year.

If you can’t wait for Taste of the Nation DC this year (scheduled for April 8) or just want to experience the food fest on a smaller scale, you can purchase tickets here for Taste of the Market.
