Metropolitan Police are asking for the community’s help as they continue an investigation into the shooting death of 28-year-old Capitol Hill resident, Jason Anthony Emma, who was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car, which was parked in the 1200 block of C Street, NE early Monday morning.
MPD issued an alert and is offering a $25,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
It’s still unclear whether Emma was robbed or targeted for some other reason, according to reports from The Washington Post. Police found Emma inside his car, which was still running, shortly after 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve. The Post said that police are looking for two men, one wearing a white shirt with dark sleeves, both between 5-feet-10 inches and 6-feet tall and weighing approximately 200 to 220 pounds.
WJLA ABC 7 News originally reported that Emma moved into his home 24-hours before being gunned down, but an updated story reports that he moved-in Dec. 1st. He was an accountant and has family in nearby Arlington.
The homicide follows another shooting that took place just a few blocks north, on H Street, NE.
A separate shooting occurred while a crowd stood outside the DTLR shoe store at 902 H Street, NE on Friday morning. The crowd was waiting in-line for the release of Nike Air Jordan shoes. No one was injured in that incident.
