Zach predicted a reply — after all, he knew that Laura liked to check the Newhilleast listserv, and Laura delivered.
Nearly 24-hours after the first message hit the neighborhood listserv, Laura offered this reply:
Well, hello Everyone and Zach,
How could I refuse? Who doesn’t love a little extra romance in the air! I’m sad I missed the campaign signs though – guess I just got too conditioned to ignoring them the last few months?
Since this is for Zach, and really, let’s be honest, for humanity, I’ll meet up on the condition that all listserv members agree to doing something ridiculously kind and/or romantic to someone who doesn’t expect it this holiday season (no need to send written agreement – we’ll all just feel the love in the air).
Zach, it was fun meeting you and sorry I lost your business card! Oh, and don’t reply all here – let’s stay undercover.
Laura
So, Newhilleasters, if we want these two kids to get together and do what young people do when they go out on a date (they hold hands, right?) we have to do something good for all of humanity.
I’ll start by being nice to my husband. I’m sure he won’t see that one coming.
