“Triceratops” one of last year’s entrants in The Hill is Home pet photo contest
Capitol Hill goes all out for Halloween. And so do our readers when it comes to dressing their beloved dog or cat in ridiculous costume for our pet photo contest (we’re still waiting for our first hamster entry).
Last year, more than thirty pets competed, resulting in some serious competition for coveted prizes. This year looks to be no different.
So, want to enter Fido or Fluffy? It’s simple. Any pet is welcome to participate. All entries must be sent and emailed to The Hill is Home (THIHcontest@gmail.com) by Friday, Nov. 2nd.
Pets will be eligible for the following two prizes:
- Least-Like-the-Species Award (selected by THIH editors): Think your critter’s costume completely hides his or her dog-ness, cat-ness, or hamster-ness? Win a selection of treats and a $25 gift card to Metro Mutts.
- Readers’ Choice Award: THIH readers vote for their favorite collective entry, and for that trick you’ll be rewarded with a $50 gift card to Metro Mutts.
Readers will be able to vote for their favorite photo Nov. 5th-9th. Winners will be announced here on Monday, Nov. 12th.

The Fine Print
Photos must be emailed to the official THIH photo contest address (THIH contest at gmail.com) no later than Nov. 2, 2011. Each submission should be provided in JPG or TIF format, no larger than 1 MB, and should be accompanied by the photographer’s name, email address, phone number, and mailing address. Only one photo entry per pet. You do not have to live on Capitol Hill to enter.
All judging decisions are final. Photos submitted to the contest will be added to the The Hill Is Home Flickr Pool. THIH reserves the right to use photos submitted in future posts on the website.
By submitting a photo entry, the submitter asserts the submitted photo is his or her own work and that it bears no copyright. THIH staff and immediate family members are not eligible for this contest. THIH encourages free speech and dialogue. Photos containing questionable subject matter will be disqualified.
