If you live on the Hill and count a four legged friend as a member of your family, chances are good you’ve been to Metro Mutts to stock up on food, treats and toys for your pet. Did you know they also offer dog and pet sitting services? And they’re in need of new applicants and have dog walking routes available in both NE and SE. Sound like an appealing gig for you? Are you a physically fit dog lover with reliable transportation who enjoys the outdoors even in extreme weather? Are you looking for a long term P/T job and can work M-F between 11am-3pm each day? Then you might be a good fit for our team!
Dog Walkers will earn $8 per 30 minute walk for one dog and $10.50 for two dogs which averages about $16-$18 per hour. There is also always extra pet sitting work available (caring for both dogs & cats) for team members who can work AM, PM & weekends in addition to the required M-F midday hours. Staff also receive a 10% discount in the Metro Mutts store.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Live on or adjacent to Capitol Hill/H Street area
* Ability to work 11am-3pm each day M-F
*Can commit to a position for a minimum of 6 months
* Comfortable walking dogs of different sizes/breeds and an interest in learning about dog behavior
* Currently own a dog or have experience caring for dogs in either a professional or volunteer capacity
* Possess reliable transportation and a cell phone with daily access to the internet and a printer
* Must be responsible and punctual with a positive attitude
* Can communicate effectively with customers and other staff
* The desire/ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and manage your own schedule effectively
* Have good references and be able to pass a criminal background check
