Truck Touch This Saturday

I remember as a tyke wanting to ride on a street sweeper.  I didn’t really want to clean the streets, I just wanted to command the odd-looking, loud vehicle with giant brushes that also shoots water sort of like an international spy’s car.  At least, that’s how it appeared to me when I was eight or nine.  Maybe that’s why I feel like a kid again with my excitement for the 2012 DC Government Truck Touch, TOMORROW Saturday, June 16th.  From 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the RFK Stadium Parking Lot 7. District residents will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with over thirty official city vehicles.

According to the DC Department of Public Works website, “the event will feature vehicles from the DC Departments of Public Works, Transportation, Health, Employment Services, Parks and Recreation, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, the Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Water and Sewer Authority.”  I’m thinking that means street sweepers.

The event is free, and more information can be found at the DC DPW website.
