H Street Retail Survey

H Street needs more retail. This we know. Every time I get into my car to head to the burbs for kid’s clothes I grumble. It should not be this difficult to obtain decent socks and underwear.

Working with the folks at  National Trust, H Street Main Street has developed a survey to assess what type of retail establishments the neighborhood needs, desires and most importantly, would support.

While filling the survey is no guarantee that the mythical bakery that everyone says they want will actually appear one day, it will assist the folks at H Street Main Street when they talk with developers and potential business owners about a vision for the corridor. With so many new large projects with space for ground-floor retail on the way in the next few years, the neighborhood wants to be thoughtful as it approaches this next stage of development.

Live, work or play in the H Street area? Then fill out this survey and let your voice be heard. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PT9DMSK

You could buy kids’ clothes at the Ross in the Hechinger Mall. Great prices, decent selection.

I’ve gotten kids socks there but they actually have a very limited selection of kids’ clothing . at least for older boys. I’ve gotten LOTS of stuff for myself however.

minor suggestion for your survey, if it matters, but as a resident of the SE part of the Hill, are H Street developers interested in luring dedicated neighborhood shoppers north from our normal Barracks Row/Eastern Market area? I’d do just about anything for a decent shoe store for myself and/or kids on the Hill…including riding my bike aaalll the way up to H Street. Given that Barracks Row seems committed to filling every storefront with a restaurant, I’m a perfect candidate to be lured to H Street by some stores that sell actual goods.

The survey is for anyone who would shop there. I go to Barracks Row for all the things we don’t have on H…fro yo, gluten free cupcakes, fanciful cookie cutters.
So please fill it out and suggest shoes. Other than sneakers because we have that covered.
