Call for Volunteers: The Homeless Children's Playtime Project

Looking to add something a little more meaningful than suntans and cookouts to your summer schedule?

The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project is in need of volunteers to help out at the DC General Emergency Shelter this summer. Located at 1900 Massachusetts Ave SE, this is the largest emergency family shelter in DC.

The facility has a toddler play room as well as a room for older kids, where volunteers play and do various activities with the over 500 children living at the shelter.

Lana Tilley, the group’s Program & Operations Manager, will be holding a training session this evening and again on June 26th from 6-8:30pm. If you’d like more information or are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can email her.  Additionally, The Washington Post featured the Playtime Project, you can read more here.
