Ward 6 At-Large Candidate Forum Today

Voting: important. Photo by María Helena Carey

I know, I know, DC elections can be hard to keep track of: it’s like figuring out Metro fares with peak of the peak thrown in. But we’ve got an election coming down the pike in a few weeks, and it’s time for all of us to troop on down to the polls and preserve our right to say, “Don’t blame me! I voted for the other guy”.

Ward 6 Councilmember, Mayor and Council Chair are not up this round, but we do have an At-Large election that will affect us. If you’ve been lax at finding out what the candidates have been saying (no, I will not tell you, do your own research!), come on out tonight to Brent Elementary at 7 pm, for a candidate forum sponsored by the Ward 6 Democrats and moderated by WTOP’s Mark Seagraves. Brent is on the 300 block of North Carolina Ave, SE, just a few blocks between the Capitol South and Eastern Market Metro stops.

For those of you new to the area or just unsure how this works, keep in mind this is for the April 3rd Primary. You do have to be a registered Democrat to vote in the primary (at least for the Democratic ticket), but this forum is open and welcome to all.

And a quick note for everyone, but especially parents with kids in DCPS; election day falls on April 3rd, smack in the middle of spring break this year. So if you’re going to be out of town, request an absentee ballot or plan on voting early. None of the early voting sites are on the Hill, naturally.
