Starting this Friday, Fruit Bat (1236 H Street, NE) turns into THE TRUCK STOP. It will be turning its kitchen over to some of your favorite food truck chefs. Seeking to stem those late night, post-dancing, post-concert, post-whateverelse (hey, as long as it doesn’t disturb the neighbors) munchines, Fruit Bat will be serving a variety of weekend night late bites. Its a marriage between a brick and mortar restaurant and the city’s finest gourmet food trucks: a pop up restaurant that rotates through the Bat’s kitchen.
Food will be served from 7PM to 2AM Friday and Saturday (and can go later if it has been a particularly aerobic evening)! Its a great opportunity for fans of particular trucks to have their favorite street fare in a sit down restaurant with a beer or cocktail. This weekend and next, the kitchen will be turned over to Grids Waffles. The following three weekends in April will be Hot People Food (which doesn’t currently operate in DC because their truck is too long — to fit all that extra tastiness — for DC code).

As if that’s not enough, starting next Thursday, April 5th, Fruit Bat will also be doing late night felafel with Khalil, of Pound fame, every Thursday until midnight.
