Pay-What-You-Can Night at Theater Alliance

Feeling theatrical and low on cash at the same time? Well this is an event tailor-made for you, penny pinching arts lovers of Capitol Hill! Tonight, Theater Alliance is hosting its first Pay-What-You-Can staged reading of their 2011-2012 season. The event kicks off at 8pm at the H Street Playhouse and will feature Anthony Neilson’s “The Night Before Christmas”. Directed by Clay Hopper, the play is described as “an adult fairy tale that takes an acerbic view of Christmas in a society permeated by a spirituality of materialism.”

The Theater Alliance was founded in 1993 with the goal of “producing work that would illuminate the experiences, philosophies and interests of DC’s diverse populations.” The company’s mission is to “present new or rarely produced works geared towards attracting diverse and alternative audiences.”

Sounds like this could be a great way to prepare for the holiday season  (face the reality, Thanksgiving is next week!) And you might as well join the rest of America in looking past the turkey celebrations and head straight for the Christmas carols and decorations. Don’t believe me? Have you been to a Target lately? Christmas is here, my friends. For more information on tonight’s event, you can check our their facebook page, here.
