Monday Morning Circle Time

Summer Bounty

Summer is winding down and the mornings are, miraculously, starting to feel just a little bit cooler, although, let’s face it: anything feels cooler than a heat index of 112.  So, what did THIHers do during this oh-so-much-cooler weekend?

Nichole: I started my weekend at Cheverly with MHC on Friday, and then spent Saturday catching up with friends over brunch and bottomless mimosas at the Argonaut, which somehow led right into hurricanes and shellfish happy hour at Senart’s before ending the evening with beers at Trusty’s. As I am no longer 21, I spent Sunday on my couch recovering with pizza and Diet Coke!

Lauren spent the weekend enjoying the first few days of vacation and avoiding thinking about the fact that August is nearly halfway over.

Sharee spent a long weekend on the Eastern Shore with friends enjoying the Bay, eating far too well and managing to, mostly, avoid the rain.

Kyra spent the first half of her weekend in her home state of New Jersey (Yay for road-side fruit and veggie stands) and the second half in the District. She capped off the weekend with what has now become a summer time tradition: a run to Pitango Gelato by way of the Capitol.

Jon spent Friday at Truckeroo 3 sampling the wares of many a food vehicle, followed by a trapeze lesson at TSNY DC.  Saturday morning meant back to the waterfront for a three-year-old’s birthday party at the Yards Park, and in the evening we had friends over for dinner.  Sunday was relaxing with no major plans, just some errands and laundry.

Finally, Maria kicked off the weekend at Cheverly pool with Nichole and the kiddos, after the doctor gave the little one the green light (yay successful surgery!).  Saturday brought delicious bagels from Bagels and Baguettes; hours and hours (and hours, and hours…) of home organization followed by a little sushi and a relaxing walk.  Sunday, brunch at an undisclosed off-Hill location with the little darlings, followed by a whole afternoon of playing at Stanton park and enjoying the late summer breezes which became awesome late summer thunderstorms.
