To Do List

It looks as though the weather has decided to give us a break and bless us with tolerable weather. My hair for one is thankful for the decrease in humidity, which means I can tame my mane for what looks to be a fabulous weekend.

This weekend the Atlas Performing Arts Center will be hosting their Summer Film Series. In honor of Bastille Day, this evening’s movie will be Paris is Burning at 8 p.m. Chicago will be the Friday night movie at 8. Get the family out for a showing of Chicken Run on Saturday at 5, and close the weekend on Sunday at 4 with Get on The Bus.

On Friday night, get out and support employees of The Tune Inn. The fundraiser is being organized to help the staff meet their needs while the Tune Inn is closed.
The fundraiser will be held at the American Legion Post 8 at 224 D Street, SE from 3- 10:00 pm. The admission is a $20 donation at the door. The fundraiser will feature live music, raffle prizes from Capitol Hill businesses and artists, and the chance to buy Tune Inn memorabilia.

On Saturday you can head out to RFK to attend the last weekend of the DC Summer Carnival. The Carnival is open on Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and from noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Unlimited ride passes and wristbands are available for $25 (Friday-Sunday) and can be purchased at the carnival entrance every day. Individual tickets are 20-for-$20 or 4-for-$5. Go embrace your inner child and get sugar high from some cotton candy and take a spin on the teacups.

Also on Saturday, The Corner Store will be hosting a photography show from 6-8 p.m.

Whatever you choose to do, it looks like a memorable summer weekend!
