Special Street Talk this Wednesday – Retail Priority Incentive Act Q&A

If you’re interested in taking advantage of the booming H Street corridor with your own business aspirations, now is your big chance — and apparently you don’t have to go broke doing it.

DC is introducing an incentive program to build retail on H Street, NE, currently home to trendy hotspots like H Street Country Club and the Rock & Roll Hotel. (Sidenote: as a Philadelphia native, I must note the intriguing promise of the Philadelphia Water Ice Factory at 1204 H St, NE – -perfect for summer!)

This Wednesday at SOVA Espresso & Wine (1359 H St, NE), starting at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., you can participate in a preliminary Street Talk session hosted by CHAMPS. The talk will be led by Charles Allen, Chief of Staff to Tommy Wells, Ward 6 Council Member.

At the event Allen will explain more about the program’s funding level for the first year — around $1.25 million — and how interested attendees can shine on their applications for retail space. So, aspiring H street business owners, step up! And bring your best work (desserts, please?) to the Hill.
