Outdoor Dining on the Hill: H Street Edition

Sunset in DC is perhaps the only time of day you can step outside and not be immediately overcome by staggering humidity. With this in mind, the twilight hours are all the more reason to be outdoors, enjoying a nice cold beverage and a meal on the Hill, H Street style.

A number of great places to eat and drink have come to H Street over the past few years. Is your favorite mentioned below? If not, tell us where you’re enjoying outdoor dining on H this summer.

I’ll begin with the Argonaut because of their large patio space, and because  they’re clearly after my heart, hello basket of sweet potato fries. Even though I long ago replicated their delicious “secret tater tot sauce” I still find myself at Sticky Rice fairly often. They have a deck upstairs, and while it can get crowded it’s a lively atmosphere in the evenings.

Little Miss Whiskey’s has a patio out back, as does Biergarten Haus and the Queen Vic. Smith Commons has a nice deck space to enjoy a burger and their delicious manchego macaroni and cheese.

And since I’m one of “those dog people” – I’d like to ask you, our all knowing readers – what’s the best outdoor place to bring my pup where he’s truly welcome on H? I don’t want to have to beg for an extra cup of water for my little guy.
