Fundraiser for Tune Inn staff FRIDAY

There’s a reason Twitter—and our listserv—was all a-buzz when the Tune Inn Restaurant and Bar suffered from a kitchen-destroying fire last month. The spot is one of several businesses that makes Capitol Hill more than a breeding ground for aspiring and veteran politicians, but also makes it a neighborhood, with familiar faces and close histories.

The re-opening of the Tune Inn still has an uncertain timeline, but this Friday is a chance for everyone to help expedite the process. Although the damage is covered through insurance, employees of the Tune Inn could use some help during the waiting period. At the American Legion Post 8, located at 244 D St, SE, there will be live music, raffle prizes, and Tune Inn merch for sale, all in the hopes to raise $50,000 for the staff not covered by insurance. The event starts at 3pm and goes until 10.

Most exciting of all is the chance to bid on one of the ten booths inside Tune Inn. Just like every sitcom has its main characters seated at the same booth or table for every episode, you too can claim part of your favorite hang out as your own! If you can’t manage to snag a booth, for $150 you will be able to purchase a plaque with your name that will be hung at the Tune when it reopens.

More information about fundraising and steps toward reopening is available at www.friendsoftuneinn.org.
