Monday Morning Circle Time

Morning! You can’t really argue with a weekend like that. Not too hot and there were no freak storms storms to wreck the fun. Mostly I’d say it was a relaxing weekend. Folks seem to be saving it up for next week’s 3-day birthday party.
Saturday was Ward 6 Family Day at Yards Park, anyone go?I did and I must say an an attendee of the past few Family Days at Sherwood Recreation Center, steps away from my house, this was a lot swankier.  As far as I can tell there were no added perks this year. Yards park is just really lovely.

Sorry Sherwood.  I mean. You have no water features so it’s not a fair fight. We still love you for your basketball court!

So I got sidetracked. Where was I? Oh right. What did you do this weekend?

Lauren: Spent most of the weekend off the hill (the horror!) Saturday was a baby shower in Arlington and Sunday was a poolside birthday party for a friend in Herndon. Spent the drive back into DC on Sunday evening wondering how commuters do that drive in traffic – which reaffirmed love for my job approximately 2 miles from my house.

Nichole: My weekend was bookended by trips to the pool with friends on Friday and Sunday. After the pool on Friday, I enjoyed being part of friends’ celebration dinner at Cheestique in Del Ray. Saturday I worked a bunch, then bbq’d some, then finished the night with patio drinks. Sunday’s pool trip was like reliving my youth, with (totally ungraceful) dives off the high dive, underwater tea parties, giving some swim lessons and fetching goggles off the floor of the deep end. And, much like when I was a kid after spending the weekend at the pool – I’m ready for bed on Sunday night at 8pm!

Jen: Continuing a family tradition, I took the boys to see Cars 2 Friday night. Sigh. It’s no Incredibles or Ratatouille or even a Cars 1 but still contains some Pixar charm. Saturday I took the 8 year old to Columbia, MD for his first rugby match. Lord help me. In the afternoon we played a round of mini golf at Hain’s Point, followed by a trip to Ward 6 Family Day. I grilled some homemade gluten free pizza for dinner and then snuck over to catch Step Afrika! at the Atlas… and wow if you missed it I’m sorry because it was pretty awesome. Sunday was Cheverly Pool where I learned that Nichole is quite the toddler wrangler. Who knew??
