Monday Morning Circle Time

Hey there! Hope your weekend was lovely and relaxing and productive. The predicted showers held out until Sunday giving everyone a chance to get out and enjoy the neighborhood. Runners ran in the Capitol Hill Classic, there was a Taco showdown at the Rock and Roll Hotel and a Literary fest at Eastern Market (where our own Robert was seated with local chef/lightning rod Spike Mendlesohn.

So it was a busy one for many of us. After a weekend like that do you begin the week refreshed or exhausted? I know a few years ago I thought some weekends home with young kids made going to work Monday morning a treat.  These days they are more fun and work is, well, work.

What about you? Did this weekend recharge your batteries or wipe you out crossing items off your To Do list?

Angelique: I was self indulgent on Saturday by going to brunch without children and with grown ups and drinking mimosas and laughing with good friends. Saturday evening we had family game night by playing games we purchases from Labyrinth. On Sunday we trekked up to Silver Spring and caught a movie and dinner. I also ate to much and my naval was easy to gaze as it stuck way out. 🙂

Jon: I spent the latter half of last week and all weekend in New Orleans for the annual American Institute of Architects National Convention, checking out new products, hearing some great speakers, and eatingsome amazing food.  I may or may not have had a couple drinks too.

Nichole: This weekend was spent focusing on welcoming a sweet little pound puppy home! I also managed to fit in some yoga at BYCH, celebrate a birthday, and hang out on the patio with the neighbors.

Claudia: I spent Saturday catching up with friends off the Hill.  Sunday morning I ran the Capitol Hill Classic, hung out at Eastern Market, had brunch at The Atlas Room, and spent the rest of the day being incredibly lazy and not doing any of the chores on my to do list.

Lauren: Saturday I caught up on a bunch of my  dvr’d TV shows and later went to dinner in Chinatown and to a friends birthday party. Note to self: next time bring umbrella. Sunday I delighted in the unexpected sun by playing tennis, eating blueberry pancakes and taking the pup on a long walk.

Maria: Seeing good friends; drinking martinis; celebrating a special birthday; taking a metric butt-ton of pictures; cheering runners;eating huevos rancheros; checking out houses; and just basking in the crazy awesomeness of our humid weather: this weekend was a weekend of WIN.

Jen: After a long day Friday the 13th we broke with our usual Friday night pizza and movie tradition and had dinner at Sticky Rice.  I was blown away by our fantastic server Susie who was so helpful, kind and knowledgeable and found a meal for the pickyvegetarianceliac child. I had to stop myself from hugging her. Saturday was yoga and Little League followed up by catching up with the gossip chatting with fellow parents and friends at the Two Rivers fundraiser. Sunday we had brunch with family and then I checked out the Youth Film fest at the Atlas and marveled at the talent on display.
