Monday Morning Circle Time

Good morning. Hope the weekend was lovely. The weather was pleasant for the most part aside from a bit of sprinkling on Sunday.

It’s starting to get busy around here. This weekend you had the opportunity to eat your way down Barrack’s Row for the Taste of 8th. I couldn’t make it this year but still recall waiting quite a long time for a (tasty) Ted’s Bulletin milkshake so I’m curious what the line situation was like. There were also some school auctions in the North Hall and the crazy DayGlow party over by RFK.  I hope the painted revelers left Tim’s yard alone…

No doubt some of our neighbors attended The White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night. It’s my wish to someday attend NerdProm   And unlike some of my other life goals (being a child star in films and or television,  an Olympic medalist which is extremely difficult for a non-athlete or playing Juliet) I still have time. Right now the only way I can see getting in  would be if I get back into waiting tables and went to work for the caterer.

So what did you do this weekend?

Claudia: After a quiet Friday night I finally made time to give Bikram Yoga a try over on H Street on Saturday morning.  On Sunday I ran my first 5K in a better time than I expected, had a picnic on the mall, met some friends for brunch, and then made it to Nationals’ Park for the last half of the game, just as food coma was setting in.  The rest of my weekend entailed chores and glorious laziness.

Jon: After some last minute site-seeing with my dad on Saturday morning, I spent the afternoon on daddy-duty while my wife enjoyed a day with friends on the Eastern Shore.  We participated in Taste of 8th and
then enjoyed the sunny weather at the Yards Park.  Sunday while dreary was very productive in the yard, creating a new vegetable garden and trimming the bushes and hedges.  We finally made it to Pound Coffee this weekend as well, and I enjoyed my first of many Nutella lattes.

Kyra: Saturday was a perfect spring day on the hill, which included a few laps around Lincoln Park, a trip to Eastern Market, brunch at Matchbox (which did not include a wait!), a turn or two on the slides back at Lincoln Park and a quality, and somewhat epic, two-hour nap. I topped the evening off with some time in the kitchen, where I managed to make a low-fat, low-calorie mac and cheese that actually tasted good! Sunday included a trip to the supermarket, a bit more 5k training and a nap, not necessarily in that order.

Jen: Friday I started out the evening with some Bikram followed by lovely dinner with my visiting aunt and her friends at Montmarte.  Grabbed a CaBi and headed back to H and was very relieved to find an open dock. Saturday had to miss one Little League  game to attend a baby shower held in a spectacular Kalorama apartment. Made it back to the Hill for LL game number two and watched my kid make some great plays…pretty crazy considering the gene pool.  Sunday we hosted a friend and his kids for dinner since his wife was called out of town unexpectedly. We’re all hoping she makes it back for Mother’s Day.

So I wrote this last night before all that history happened. That’s what I get for going to bed early!
