Monday Morning Circle Time

Coming back from a weekend away sometimes makes it tough for me to write the Circle Time intro.  Even though I kept up with the email I still feel a bit disconnected from the Hill and recent events.

So tell me, did the Lincoln park Egg Hunt happen or was it rained out? I know the Caps swept the Rangers…the rest of my family were Caps fans in Rangers’ territory this weekend which I think made that victory a bit sweeter.

Did anyone don their finest and do Easter Brunch or Dinner at any of our fine local establishments?  Bonnets anyone?

Claudia: After spending Friday night in Virginia, I managed to stick to the Hill the rest of the weekend, enjoying every bit of the lovely weather we were treated to despite the predictions of rain.  On Saturday I had brunch at the Argonaut, then enjoyed a nutella scone on the patio at Pound Coffee, followed by dinner at La Plaza.  On Sunday I went for a
long run, then spent the rest of the day with family — brunch at Montmartre, blowing bubbles and playing with chalk in the back yard, and then a home-cooked dinner.

Lauren: I too was thrilled by the unexpected great weather this weekend! Saturday we did some household errands while waiting for the sun to come out and later made pizza for dinner. Sunday we had an amazing homemade brunch, walked around Eastern market and played tennis. And ate a ton of chocolate!!

Jon: Saturday morning was spent cleaning up the house in preparation for a visit from my dad for the coming week.  The afternoon was spent dying Easter eggs followed by dinner at Ted’s Bulletin.  Sunday’s wonderful warm weather found us browsing through Eastern Market  We ended the day with a delicious family Easter dinner at our house, desserts
picked up from Dangerously Delicious.

Maria: Saturday, we splashed around puddles and enjoyed the kookiness that was FrEGGer’s Egg hunt on Saturday, and although we got snacks at P&C market, we ended up skipping the Eggstravaganza at Lincoln Park.  On Sunday, brunched at the Argonaut (mm…. bottomless Mimosas), enjoyed the gorgeous day playing outside, and checked out the real estate.

Nichole: Friday night after yoga I spent some quality time exploring the new Seven Deadly Sins seasonal menu at Church & State (highly recommend both the B Cup and the Rooster). Saturday was yoga, then a going away party for friends leaving DC (and the Hill) for TX where we hit both Trusty’s and Wisdom after a house party over that way. Sunday I have to admit I missed a lot of the warm beautiful day for quality time in bed with the dogs (I was dogsitting) followed by yoga and traditional Easter dinner at friends’. (I did not leave the Hill all weekend)

Kyra: I left the hill and hated almost every minute of it–the exception being supporting my Nats at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. My husband and I had a blast six rows behind home plate, where my demand that the at-bat Werth earn his pay check resulted in a home run. (We lost the game, but the endless Cracker Jack boxes and hot dogs well made up for it.)

Sharee: Finally made it over to Smith Commons Saturday to check out the new (as of 3 weeks ago) brunch menu.  The food was fantastic (croque madame with champagne, shrip & grits with a bloody mary my husband called “one of the best I’ve ever had”).  Sunday, while hubby mowed and edged the median on our block (thanks!), I earned my first set of red shoulders for the season meeting a friend for coffee on the sunny patio of Big Bear Cafe.  We finished the day with a great Easter dinner on our neighbor’s patio, despite the threatening weather.

Jen: We spent the whole weekend up in New Jersey to see my parents. One is recovering from a recent hip replacement so with that, and the rain, we were housebound. The rest of my homebody family was fine with that but I thought I was going to lose my mind. The two highlights were finding a Not-a-Bikram-but it-was-pretty-much-Bikram class sort of near by and having lunch with a high school friend who has been in LA for twenty years but remembers far more about high school that I do.
