The To Do List

The temperature is rising. The rain is holding off (and even if it doesn’t at least its not snow!) So get out there and have some fun around the Hill this week(end).

Friday is the early bird deadline for CHAW’s Art and Go Seek. Those who register by Friday get a discount!

CHAW is also offering ARTdays: Storytelling on Saturday morning from 10-11am in the Black Box Theater. “Sugarfootn’ with Sugarfoots – A Black History Storytelling Celebration” is an “exciting one-woman show that fuses storytelling and comic overture.” Admission is free, all ages welcome. CHAW would like to thank ARTdays sponsor National Capital Bank for their participation.

The Montessori Yard Sale & Seed Sale is Saturday from 8am – 1pm. Stop by the Watkins School to check out items for sale including children’s toys and games.

Break out your green thumb for Saturday’s tree planting at the Sherwood Rec Center. The event starts at 9am and lunch will be provided by Liberty Tree and the Argonaut. Future plans for greening the space will likely include creating a rose garden to the left of the entrance.  Check out their facebook page for more info.

Later that day, make your way over to The Pug to help combat breast cancer. “Step into the Ring: Join the Fight Against Breast Cancer” invites you to stop by for a drink from 7 – 9pm where 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Capital Breast Care Center.

Perhaps you caught my love for the Orange & Blue line earlier this year. If not, no matter for Sunday is the birthday of DC’s finest mode of transportation (Capital bikeshare notwithstanding!) the Metro. Happy Birthday to Metro, which first came to be on March 27, 1976 (finally the orange seat covers make perfect sense).

Drink Pink!  Tuesday, March 29th at 7pm is the  Team Joyce Annual Charity Auction at Smith Commons. Billed as a “tremendously fun event involving several Hill businesses” the night will benefit the Avon Walk for the Cure to defeat Breast Cancer and Team Joyce’s participation in the April 30th to May 1st walk. The auction starts at 8pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The night will also feature an on site mixologist who will be offering a special pink cocktail!
