To Do List

Originally uploaded to flickr by Bill on Capitol Hill

It’s time to stop hibernating, Capitol Hill! Get off the couch and head to one of our great bars or restaurants or simply walk the streets and take in the sights—crocus and daffodils are popping up in tree boxes and front yards around the hill, and after our cold, dreary winter their colorful blooms are a sight for these sore eyes. If you need more motivation than food, drink and flowers, check out what is happening on the Hill this weekend!

This is the last weekend that Intersections will be at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, and you’d be a fool not to go!

If the crowds on H Street prove to be too daunting, head to The Fridge (516 8th Street SE). Beginning Saturday, March 12 and continuing through early April is the Street Art Group Show, which will feature works by Decoy, Diabetik, Scotch, Scot Lefavor, and CRI.

Speaking of art, if you wish you had taken art class more seriously in grammar school, then visit www.chaw.org where you can learn about the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s latest class offerings. Registration is now open for adult classes, which include topics such as oil painting, pastels, intro to drawing, life drawing, digital photography, black & white photography, ceramics, urban sketching, open figure drawing and more. And if you want to get moving, then try a few dances classes, like tap, ballet and social ballroom dance!

While online be sure to get tickets for Capitol City Player’s performance of Blackbird—the story of two people who once had a passionate affair only to meet again fifteen years later. Shows are Friday, March 11 and Saturday March 12 at 8pm.

Finally, we spring ahead this weekend (yay, more sunlight!), but don’t let that lost hour make you late for Sunday brunch at your favorite spot on the Hill. Whether you like your breakfast in a skillet at Matchbox or you like to make your Bloody Mary your way at the Argonaut, a Hill brunch should always be on your to-do list.

Speaking of the Argonaut — We’ll be heading to The Alchemy of Great Taste where the Arg will be serving up tasty food and beer along with other local restaurants.

Also, a great way to support Tyler Elementary!
