Before we get to the mass of links (and I have a lot for you this week), I want to provide a group of links on a hot topic in the neighborhood.  The developers of the Hine school project have released their latest designs and plans for the site and in anticipation of a lengthy discussion among the ANC6B commissioners on how to weigh in, a special meeting has been scheduled for March 15th from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at St. Coletta School (located at 1901 Independence Avenue, SE).  At the meeting, the developers will make a presentation on the current plans, and then the community and ANC commissioners will be able to ask questions and provide feedback.  For some additional background, read: Greater Greater Washington, EMMCA, EMMCA, Kirsten Oldenburg’s blog, and our past coverage of the issue.

  • In case you missed the DCPS meeting last week, Van Ness Elementary will remain closed for another few years. (JDLand)
  • This one is sure to bring lots of entertainment to tonight’s ANC6B meeting: EMMCA reported that ANC6B’s ABC Committee is supporting the proposed liquor license for Pacifico.  A small group of neighbors are still protesting it.
  • Greater Greater Washington looked at why Tommy Wells is not pleased with DDOT’s handling of the Performance Parking Pilot Program.
  • Housing Complex looked at the fight between the The Capitol Hill Restoration Society and The Heritage Foundation over a third floor addition to their new building on Pennsylvania Avenue.
  • Wonkette thinks H Street is an urban oasis!
  • And The Washington Flyer recommended several H Street spots in its latest issue (h/t Frozen Tropics)
  • Young & Hungry checked out the new and improved menu at the Argonaut.
  • DC Eater reported that Spike Mendelsohn will be expanding his restaurant reach the spring with a food truck named Sixth & Rye.
  • Prince of Petworth shared a review of Schneider’s.
