Weekend East City Event Round Up: Valentine’s Edition

Love the one your with and take him or her out to the galleries this weekend as a pre-Valentine’s Day treat or better yet, surprise him or her with a beautiful gift that will be remembered for a lifetime.

Friday February 11
Just in time for Black History Month, the Brentwood Art Exchange and the Prince George’s County African-American Museum present Resonant Forms an exhibition featuring art work by Alonzo Davis, Martha Jackson-Jarvis, and Frank Smith.  The opening will run from 5pm to 8pm. The Brentwood Arts Exchange is located at 901 Rhode Island Avenue in Brentwood, MD

Saturday February 12
CHAW, The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (545 7th Street SE, Washington DC) continues its Saturday morning “Drawing from the Figure” open studio featuring models from the Washington Figure Models Guild.  Drop-ins are welcome so bring your pens, brush or charcoal and join a fun group of local working artists.  The cost is $20 per drop in or $60 for four weeks. The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) will host an all media juried show on Saturday, February 12 from 4pm to 8pm at CHAW (545 7th Street SE, Washington DC).  The show will be juried by none other than Janis Goodman, a Corcoran faculty member and PBS art critic.

City Gallery is currently showing Color and Shape with bright, warm colored oil paintings by Jill Finsen and handmade glass pieces by Nancy Donnelly.  The gallery is open on Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm and is located at 804 H ST NE on the second floor.
