St. Peter's Kicks Off School Auction Season

Partygoers enjoy last year's auction.

It’s that time of year again, folks. That’s right, it’s time for school fund-raisers!

Now, I’ve hated fund-raisers since I was a small kid trying to shill popcorn for the Boy Scouts (lucky Girl Scouts with their cookies that sell themselves!). And as a parent, I cringe when the pizza kits and wrapping paper sales paraphernalia come home or when my neighbors hit me up for Christmas wreathes.

But, I’ve got to say, as a confirmed school fund-raiser hater, Capitol Hill schools actually throw pretty decent parties. Honestly! They’re actually, you know, fun. So if you’re looking to support your local school and just can’t handle anymore citrus fruit, consider buying a ticket or two to one of our many fine choices.

St. Peter School gets the ball rolling this weekend with a Viva Las Vegas night. Here’s all you need to know:

Viva Las Vegas!  Saturday, February 12, 6-10pm, St. Peter Church Hall, 2nd and C Sts, SE. Join the St. Peter School community for an evening of glamour and glitter! Under the neon lights of Vegas, try your luck at winning some of the over 100 fabulous items in the silent auction. And don’t forget the vacation getaways and sumptuous dining experiences in the live auction. A Vegas-style buffet and swinging music will complete the scene. Bring your friends – it’s the best party on Capitol Hill!

Some of the big-ticket items St. Peter’s will be offering this year are hands-on flight experience in the Lockheed Martin Fighter Demonstration center, Vegas getaway including hotel and airfare, Ski week in Crested Butte, Colorado, and dinner for 10 at Marrakesh.

If this weekend doesn’t work for you, we’ll be keeping you informed of other school auctions and events as the spring comes. So, pick one (or more) and come on by! Don’t make me sell you cookie dough.
