You know those vacations where you pack in so much in a short amount of time, you need a vacation from your vacation? Yeah, that’s how I’m feeling right now after an extra-long weekend away. It was an amazing time, visiting a new city and an old friend who is finishing up school there but I don’t remember the last time I have felt this kind of exhaustion! Not going to bed until 3am three nights in a row apparently leads to the decision that it makes more sense just stay up all night on the last night… because the cab is coming at 4:30am to go to the airport, and sleeping for only three hours will be worse than no sleep at all. And you can always sleep on the plane… because economy class is oh-so-comfortable. Right. I guess I can feel good that while I am no longer in college I can still pull it off when the time calls for it. This week’s list of links is a bit short since I like to unplug during vacations, but I did manage to catch a few good posts between museums, bars and tapas restaurants.
- The New York Times reported on the revitalization happening around Barracks Row, particularly south of the highway.
- The Washington Post also covered Barracks Row and Eastern Market, listing its top spots in the area. There’s a little walking tour and a photo spread on their website.
- Capitol Hill protesters moved beyond the Capitol to take their message directly to the front door of Hill resident, Speaker Boehner. (DCist)
- Prince of Petworth has heard rumors that Khan’s Bar and Grill, a Mongolian BBQ restaurant, will be opening on H Street in March.
- JDLand has more details on the design and historic preservation review of the proposed building for the 8th Street Beer Garden.

Any idea why all of the streets around Watkins Elementary are designated as “No Parking” until Saturday morning?
That corner is such a mess right now, the Beer Garden can only be an improvement imho.
