Holiday Shopping on H Street

Add the lobby of the Atlas Performing Arts Center to your list of local shopping destinations this holiday season.  For the next three weekends a variety of vendors are setting up shop in warm and dry digs that normally play host to audiences looking for some hip hop dance or classical musical.

“We thought this would be a fun way to liven up the lobby during the holiday season.” said Scott Kension, Chief Operating Officer for the Atlas. “ We already have some holiday programming and other events so we thought why not enable our patrons to cross some gifts off their to do list at the same time.”  The Center Administrator, Jessica Able, is also a jewelry maker so she used her crafty connections to seek out vendors willing to sell their wares on H Street.

Each Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 8pm,  the Atlas will host a variety of crafts persons. The vendors will rotate but expect to see about 7 or 8 different booths set up with goods ranging from other jewelry makers, hand-crafted artwork, paintings, crocheted items, bags, pet treats and more. The Atlas Cafe will be open for shoppers to grab a treat for sustenance.

If you’d like to get an idea of the items that will be sold you can check out some of the vendors’ websites such as:

Lanyapi Designs: www.lanyapi.etsy.com
Scents by Sassee: www.scentsbysassee.com
Beth’s Stuffed Animals: www.tigerflight.etsy.com
Raine Studios:  Unique Handcrafted Jewelry: http://www.rainestudios.net

There will also be plenty of Art happening, keeping the building’s name in mind. While the seats have long been booked for the incredibly popular Annual Carol Sing, there are still tickets available to several other performances. Including the film White Christmas weekend of the 18th and 19th. Because you need to hear Bing Crosby sing  Irving Berlin’s classic one more time.

A full listing of the holiday events at the Atlas can be found here.

Happy shopping!

Jen DeMayo is Communications Director of the Atlas Performing Arts Center.

The items in Lanyapi Designs’ etsy shop are beautiful… do we know when exactly they’ll be at the Atlas?

    Hi there!

So glad you like Lanyapi Designs! The artist will be here Saturdays, December 4th and 11th.

We also have many other exciting vendors scheduled on all three weekends – definitely something for everyone! I hope you’ll be able to stop by and check it out!

Sounds like fun! I’d like to see the revamped H Street anyway, and I always buy more things for me at Christmastime than I do for others–they’re shopping is done.

  4. What a nice write up, and thanks for the link to my site (raine studios)! Very excited to be at the Atlas Holiday Market, I’ll be there 12/18-19.
