Hill Buzz

Hello winter!  Okay, not officially for another week but wow, this wind is brutally cold.  Then again, this time last year we got a big enough snow storm to miss school and work.  I wouldn’t mind a snow day but I’m really not ready for the white stuff quite yet.

There are only 11 days left to get your shopping done, but we have you covered here on the Hill!  We started our Hill shopping guide yesterday with a post from Jon, and there are plenty more coming the week.  No need to go to the shopping malls and crazy crowds in the burbs!  So while you wait in anticipation for the next installment, here is some morning reading to get caught up on.

  • WTOP covered the story of one NE resident who faced off with a bulldozer to save a tree from being cut down at Watkins Elementary
  • Tom Sietsema gave Atlas Room a great first review.
  • JD Land reported that 20 M is now 97% leased
  • Capital Cooking has some details on the soon-to-open Smith Commons.  The opening date is set for the 21st.
  • JD Land reported that ANC’s ABC committee voted to support the liquor license application for the 8th Street Beer Garden.  More details to come after tonight’s ANC meeting.  Yours truly will be spending her evening there.  Aren’t you jealous??
  • Young & Hungry ventured away from Spike’s spots to check out Ba Bay – smart choice!
  • Housing Complex looks at the proposal to raise the high limit on lower Barracks Row, and the Lower 8th St. SE Visioning Process blog posted their final proposal
  • Tasting Table wrote about Granville Moore’s new brunch
