Hill Buzz

And today’s cup of coffee picture comes from my recent trip to New Orleans where I spent Thanksgiving with my family, who I do not get to see nearly enough.  No trip to New Orleans is complete without a Cafe Au Lait and an order of beignets, piled high with powered sugar.  While you can get a fairly decent beignet at a few select restaurants in DC, there is something particularly sweet about the ones in the French Quarter as you listen to street musicians in the background.  It was great to be able to accompany my niece and nephew on their first visit there.  Apologies for the short list of links this morning but a lot of blogs took it easy through the holiday week and I’m fighting off a cold…

  • The biggest buzz was about the azaleas and the news that the Arboretum is reducing the number due to budget constraints.  I could launch into a full explanation but DCist and We Love DC already did an excellent job of it.  Eleanor Holmes Norton sent a letter asking for information…Who sends letters anymore?  A phone call and email seemed to do the trick in a much speedier fashion for our local bloggers.
  • DCist noticed a can of Steel Reserve on Tommy Wells desk and had to ask, what’s up with that?
  • Greater Greater Washington posted a photo tour of H Street.
  • Washington City Paper now has HR-57’s new address — 816 H Street NE.
  • Want more updates on the Marine’s Community Integrated Master Plan (CIMP)? Come to the next public meeting TONIGHT in Eastern Market’s North Hall.  There will be an “open house” at 5pm and then at 6:30 pm there will be some presentations followed by a facilitated discussion of community development.  Follow JD Land for more information and updates.
