Monday Morning Circle Time

Fall is here people. It arrived kind of all of a sudden this weekend. Sure the calendar and the CVS aisles loaded with goblins and candy were a clue but then came the sweet crisp air. Out came the fleeces and sweatshirts, tossed over the tanks and tees. There are still some flip flops out there but their days are numbered…just like the mosquitos bwah hahahaha.

There were no big local festivals demanding our attention this weekend so how did THIHers spend their time?

Maria: We welcomed daddy back after serving in Iraq.  The weekend was spent playing in the crisp, lovely fall weather and marveling at the Frager’s birthday cake.

Jon: We started Saturday with a trip to Frager’s for some bulbs to plant and to admire their anniversary cake.  We then took a picnic lunch to The Yards Park and felt completely detached from the world as we were practically the only people there.  Saturday night I connected with former coworkers at a friend’s 40th birthday party in Arlington.
Sunday we drove out to Poolesville, MD, to pick apples and pumpkins at Homestead Farm and enjoy the fall weather (and got home well before it rained).

Liz: Friday night tried the patio at Trusty’s, Saturday was the Maury yardsale after which we met up with some Maury friends at la Lomita, Sunday  we took the kids to Cox farms with their super slides and corn maze and spooky hayride.

Nichole: Spent Friday grilling at friends’. Left the Hill Saturday for a little shopping in Old Town followed by Crafty Bastards in Adams Morgan. After that I hit up the Argonaut then finished out the night watching football back in Old Town. Sunday was football at a friend’s in Petworth. Go Ravens!

Kyra: We celebrated our daughter’s second birthday with friends in DC on Friday and family in New Jersey on Sunday.

David: Spent the weekend taking care of some much needed housework — painting, cleaning the yard, and cleaning the house. On Saturday night, hung out with some friends on the Hill while enjoying sandwiches from Taylor’s.

Robert: Lots of kids’s birthday parties – including one at Watkins Farm in gorgeous weather – marked this weekend. It was rounded out with the Maury Yard Sale, an Anacostia Watersched Society shindig, and dinner with friends on Sunday night.

Amber: I got engaged by the FDR memorial on Saturday.  It was a good weekend. 🙂

Claudia: I spent the weekend camping at Assateague, enjoying too much food, gorgeous weather, and clear skies full of stars by a campfire.

Jen: Friday tried some pizza from the DC Slices truck parked at the Argo (eh) and then met friends at Trusty’s. Saturday was spent ferrying people to sports and Sunday we headed out to the Maryland Renaissance festival where we dress intentionally irreverently and enjoy the above-average people watching.

@Amber-WowCongrats! By the FDR Memorial–I used to give tours there for the NPS as a volunteer. Tim, what have you done there? I am sure Tim has done more there. It was a beautiful weekend, Amber–congratulations! That is my favorite Park Service site here. The waterfall?

Love the spot! Mr. Roosevelt certainly has a message that makes me think of you. Mr. Lincoln gave us our presidential blessing.

  3. Jon says:

    Congratulations Amber!

Jen-how did you like the pizza? Compared to We The Pizza? The food section of the Post last week didn’t care for the pizza truck’s wares.

  4. Jen DeMayo says:

Well since you asked… Not good .. and far too pricey for what it is. Crust was a flavorless mess and there was an odd overabundance of dried herbs. We the Pizza is better than the truck but 7th Hill beats them all.
i wanted to like the truck, i really did.

  5. DC Slices says:

    Jen,

We appreciate your feedback, but are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your pizza. Since we bake on the truck (and with your feedback) we would have been more then happy to re-fire another pie for you.

    ps- Congrats to Amber!
