Hill Buzz

I was taking care of a friend’s dog this weekend so I spent a lot of time walking around the neighborhood — and what a perfect time for it!  With so many houses already decorated for Halloween, and fallen leaves under my feet, it’s safe to say I am now officially excited for the fall and Halloween on the Hill.  So sit back and think about your costume, decoration plans, etc., and catch up on some links from some of our favorite blogs.

  • City Paper’s Housing Complex and Matthew Yglesias commented on the proposed liquor license moratorium that some are proposing on Barracks Row, as well as the challenge of attracting a mix of retail that can afford to operate there.
  • H Street Great Street posted updates of development along the corridor, including Arboretum Place, the old Police Station at 525 9th St, and the old Fire House at 1341 Maryland Avenue.
  • JD Land gave an update on the Capper Redevelopment Projects. It’s pretty lengthy and interesting, and really good to see that development is still coming along south of the highway, even if so slowly.
  • Going Out Gurus reported that the Red Palace is delaying its opening due to “licensing difficulties.”
  • Congrats to Capitol Hill’s very own Curbside Cupcakes for winning the first annual Curby Award! (We Love DC, Young & Hungry, & Frozen Tropics)
