Update: Capitol Hill Animal Clinic

You may remember a mention on this blog about Capitol Hill Veterinary Clinic closing to make way for a future restaurant venture on 8th Street, SE. I am happy to report that Dr. Murphy’s new venture is called Capitol Hill Animal Clinic, and is now located at 1240 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE — close to the SUNOCO gas station on the corner of 13th.

The Animal Clinic was slated to open around the first of September, but unfortunately construction and phone-related delays have set back the date a couple of weeks: expect the clinic to open its doors around September 15th. If you have any questions or veterinary emergencies, you can always call the clinic’s number, which has not changed and is still 202-546-1972. The Murphys thank you in advance for your patience and support and look forward to seeing you and your beloved pets at their new location very soon!

What’s the new eatery at the old Veterinary Clinic site? Will it be The Salty Dog, Katz’s Deli, or Furr’s Cafeteria?

Unfortunately Dr. Murphy lost his lease. He tried to keep the clinic open for everyone until the last possile day. However this made it difficult in the interim to find a new space, build it out, get new permits, close out the old business, get new utilities, move equipment,etc.,etc. But we are working day and night to get the new clinic open as soon as possible. We miss everyone and hope to see you in our new clinic. Again thanks for your support and patience.

Just curious, will this establishment have anything to do with the Dr. who worked here prior? Dr. Page??

  4. Lynn Murphy says:

No Dr. Page has retired. But because he had been there we were able to grandfather into the zoning for a Vet clinic otherwise we would have to obtain zoning elsewhere. Which I don’t need to tell you what that would have involved. You would probably have to wait a year for the clinic to open.

What spurred the (minor) name change?
